English Dub Review: Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! “Bungo Stray Dogs Preschool”
Overview
Someone draws on Dazai-sensei’s plushie, the kids are afraid of ghosts, and Ango-sensei comes for training.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! continues its wacky kindergarten setting, with the cast reimagined as students and teachers almost like an Anime version of “Muppet Babies”. The episode gets plenty of mileage out of their exaggerated classroom personalities, especially as one teacher uses increasingly ridiculous excuses to avoid doing his job. The introduction of a teacher-in-training also leads to some amusing misunderstandings, while a game of hide-and-seek adds another layer of playful chaos.
The rest of the proceedings keep the spin-off’s charm intact by focusing entirely on its lighter side, turning familiar characters into adorable and ridiculous versions of themselves. There are plenty of goofy exchanges and playful moments throughout, with the ending credits providing an especially cute touch by featuring the full kindergarten cast.
Overall, this is easily one of the funniest and most enjoyable episodes of Wan! so far. It may not offer much beyond its comedic premise, but that’s precisely what makes it work; the episode embraces its absurdity and delivers a consistently entertaining break from the heavier tone of the main series. If you’re looking for pure *Bungo Stray Dogs* fun, this one is hard not to love.
