‘Futurama’ Drops Season 14 Trailer at SDCC and Orders Three Extended-Length Specials
Good news, everyone! Fresh off its San Diego Comic-Con panel featuring series creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen, Hulu has unveiled the official trailer for Futurama Season 14, while simultaneously granting a green light for three extended-length “XXXL” specials.
The new trailer offers a glimpse at what is in store for the Planet Express crew ahead of Season 14’s premiere on Monday, August 3, 2026.
Three “XXXL” Specials in Production
While Season 14 prepares to roll out weekly episodes across the late summer and fall, Hulu is expanding the franchise format. The streamer confirmed that three standalone, extended-length Futurama specials are currently in production at 20th Television Animation.
The first of these supersized events is slated to drop as a Christmas-themed holiday special in 2027. While narrative specifics for the other two specials remain under wraps, they mark another major vote of confidence from Hulu in keeping the revived sci-fi comedy at the center of its adult animation roster.
What to Expect in Season 14
Following the binge-model experiment of Season 13, Season 14 returns to the classic weekly rollout on Hulu (and Disney+ internationally), dropping new episodes every Monday.
According to the official synopsis teased alongside the trailer, the new batch of episodes will tackle everything from lab-grown meats and space-pirate escapades to high-tech scams—plus the long-awaited return of Dr. Zoidberg’s lost love, Marianne (voiced by Emilia Clarke in her original appearance).
The primary voice cast—including Billy West, John DiMaggio, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, and David Herman—all return for the 10-episode run.
