English Dub Review: Yowayowa Sensei “Weak and Wimpy After School”

Overview:

Clearing up misunderstandings is easier said than done.

Our Take(Spoilers):

So… uhh… this show might be way more horny and ecchi than anything I’ve seen in a while. Look, I’m no prude, and I don’t mind nudity, but I think I need to warn people. This went beyond ecchi; this was more High School DxD than I expected. We got nipple action in this episode, and I’ll admit I was proud of HiDive for being willing to do so. Many companies and shows are more than willing to depict blood and gore, but God forbid you see a nipple. Though, admittedly, it is harder to explain to your wife when she walks in when you’re watching it.

All that aside, we were introduced to a new character in this episode, Mizuki Mukubayashi. I will be using her first name for obvious reasons. She’s an athletic gyaru who thinks that Abikura is taking advantage of Hiwamura’s clumsiness to get close to her because she’s so cute. Which Abikura admits is a plus, but it’s not his main motivation.

His admission gives me hope for the romance aspect of the series. The downside is that now that Mizuki is helping with their afterschool sessions, that means Abikura doesn’t have any alone time with Hiwamura. If only some crazy plot convenience would happen to fix this for him.

As it turns out, that’s exactly what happens when we find out that Hiawamura has moved into a house next door to Abikura. This is great news for not only him but his overbearing sister because now his sister has someone else she can baby instead of him.

I have to admit that Abikura is a lot stronger than I am. If my sister managed to talk my hot teacher into having a bath with me, I wouldn’t have been able to say no. Honestly, that’s probably the most unrealistic thing about shows like this. I can’t think of too many high school boys who wouldn’t take advantage of a situation like that. It definitely doesn’t make it right, but boys at that age aren’t exactly thinking with their brains, if you know what I mean.

This show isn’t good or bad in my eyes yet. Most anime deserve the three-episode treatment, and I think that’s the case here as well. So far, I like our two leads and would rather we focus on just them, but if the OP is anything to go by, then we’re going to keep getting more character introductions for a while.
