English Dub Review: I Want to End This Love Game “My Childhood Friend is Unstoppable”
Overview:
Miku’s proposed game with Yukiya spirals out of control as hidden feelings come to light.
Our Take(Spoilers):
So… the Pocky game escalated very quickly. It looked to me like Yukiya and Miku kissed multiple times. It was honestly amazing to watch these two stop playing games and let their feelings show. But then afterwards, the second-guessing began to set in, and it all fell apart.
Yukiya was sure this meant Miku liked him, and he felt a little apprehensive as well, but for the most part, he seemed to know what it meant. Miku, on the other hand, is feeling very lost after kissing Yukiya. She spent a lot of time crying in front of her grandmother’s shrine, remembering the past. It turns out that Yukiya might have had more of a hand in Miku’s popularity than we knew. She was much shyer as a kid, and Yukiya helped her make friends and play games with other kids.
Another reason she is upset is that she feels like she forced her feelings upon Yukiya. They played the Pocky game over and over and over. I think they were enjoying kissing each other while still having plausible deniability for being able to say that it wasn’t a kiss but part of the game. Eventually, they ran out of Pocky and kissed anyway, but in this case, it was Yukiya who kissed her.
Yukiya woke up extra early the next day to pick up Miku, but she wasn’t answering the door or her phone. When Yukiya got to school, he expected Miku to be there, but she wasn’t. He went up to one of her friends and learned that she had a fever and was staying at home sick.
Miku’s friend started to get worried and called her, and she picked up for her. Yukiya could hear her voice and could tell that she had been crying. He took off running because he knew that he needed to be there for her.
This was a tough episode for me to review because I was stoked at the progress we got but disappointed with the hang-ups that accompanied it. I hope that in the next episode they clear things up. Maybe put an end to the love game for real. I don’t know how the story would continue if they did, but I could imagine they could still play a love game as a couple.
