Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, this installment continues to build the foundation for Jiro and the rest of the team. The main focus is the clash between Jiro and Reiji, where their stubborn personalities collide in a battle that feels less like a serious rivalry and more like two prideful fighters trying to prove themselves. Despite their differences, the episode does a solid job developing their dynamic, showing that there is mutual respect beneath the tension. New characters such as Toko are introduced as the story expands, while Rago’s mysterious past and the growing threat of the Mononoke add more intrigue to the overall plot.

While the rest of the proceedings succeed at setting up future conflicts, some of the execution feels uneven. The fight between Jiro and Reiji had potential but ended up being more underwhelming than expected, especially after the previous episode built up their confrontation. There are also moments where the world-building and character abilities feel unclear, making it difficult to fully understand the limits of certain characters and their roles within the story. However, the episode still delivers some enjoyable moments, including Jiro’s clever tactics, the development of his relationship with Reiji, and the hints of larger conflicts involving the Bureau and the Mononoke.

Overall, this episode serves as a transitional chapter that establishes the team, expands the lore, and prepares the series for bigger events ahead. Although some character writing and pacing issues prevent it from reaching its full potential, there is still plenty of promise in the chemistry between the cast, the mystery surrounding Rago, and the direction the story appears to be heading. With the groundwork now laid out, the series has the opportunity to deliver stronger action and deeper character moments moving forward.
