Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, the newest chapter somehow manages to raise the bar yet again. The first half centers on Chiyo’s long-awaited introduction, with her obsession for order and perfection hilariously clashing against Rentaro’s wonderfully dysfunctional harem. The nonstop barrage of fourth-wall breaks, self-aware jokes, anime references, and outrageous comedy keeps the momentum high from start to finish, making this one of the series’ most energetic episodes to date.

While Chiyo’s arrival brings plenty of hilarious moments, she remains one of the more controversial additions to the cast due to certain aspects of her character and relationship with Rentaro. However, the episode quickly begins exploring the more comedic and endearing sides of her personality, allowing her interactions with the rest of the girlfriends to become much more enjoyable. The episode then shifts into a second storyline that puts the spotlight on Meme, giving her some much-needed attention. Paired alongside Mimimi, the two share a fantastic dynamic that leads to plenty of laughs while highlighting why the friendships between the girlfriends are just as entertaining as their individual relationships with Rentaro.

Overall, this is another excellent episode that perfectly showcases why 100 Girlfriends continues to be one of the most entertaining romantic comedies around. Whether it’s the chaotic comedy surrounding Chiyo’s introduction or the fun, character-driven second half with Meme and Mimimi, both storylines complement each other remarkably well. With its lightning-fast pacing, lovable cast, and complete willingness to embrace pure absurdity, the series continues to outdo itself, and I look forward to seeing what happens next!
