English Dub Review: Rent-a-Girlfriend “Investigation and Girlfriend”
Overview:
In an attempt to understand her feelings, Chizuru shows up at Kazuya’s house.
Our Take:
Chizuru wanting to be sure that Kazuya loves her, not her rental persona, is something I can understand. But needing to figure out whether she has feelings for him? That doesn’t make sense to me because surely you know by now whether you’re in love with someone or not. Whether someone has been in a relationship with someone or not, when someone is at this age, I don’t think that’s a valid excuse. Wanting not to hurt Ruka is understandable, but at this point, she’s made her bed, and she needs to sleep in it. Kazuya even tried to end the relationship with Ruka, and she didn’t take no for an answer.
Kazuya lets Chizuru know that he’s willing to wait ten or even twenty years for her. I hate the word simp with a passion, but that’s what Kazuya is, no doubt. Chizuru tells him that’s stupid because he has his family’s business to consider, but she also lets him know she will figure it out soon. Once again, I’m reminded how much I hate these characters.
