English Dub Review: Kirio Fanclub “When I Saw Your Tears That Day”
Overview
Who is this Satsuki, and why is she so close to Kirio? Nami and Aimi refuse to accept this unforeseen development.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, the rivalry between Aimi and Nami continues as the two girls bond over their shared fascination with Kirio while growing closer through a series of increasingly ridiculous interactions. while it continues to lean heavily into its quirky humor, featuring several memorable comedic sequences, while also giving supporting characters more screen time. At the same time, subtle hints suggest there may be more to the group’s relationships than initially meets the eye.
The rest of the proceedings felt much stronger than the premiere, with the comedy landing more consistently and the chemistry between the leads becoming increasingly entertaining. What initially appears to be a typical school rom-com continues to reveal itself as something more self-aware, poking fun at familiar genre tropes while building genuine character dynamics underneath the absurdity. The musical segment was a particular highlight, perfectly capturing the show’s chaotic energy while also adding an unexpected layer of charm.
Overall, this was a fun and refreshing follow-up that left me more invested in the characters and curious about where the story is heading. While the humor may not work for everyone, the show’s unique approach to friendship, crushes, and high school relationships helps it stand out from more conventional romantic comedies. The growing cast, intriguing character dynamics, and unpredictable direction have me looking forward to seeing how everything develops moving forward.
