Overview
Based on the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Ponchan Chikyū no Osakana, the story follows high school students Aimi Miyoshi and Nami Sometani, two girls who form an unlikely friendship through their shared obsession with their seemingly ordinary classmate, Ken Kirio. Despite having little in common, they spend their days discussing their classmate Kirio, imagining interactions with him, and competing to prove who loves him more through increasingly absurd debates and hypothetical scenarios…
Our Take
For the series premiere, we’re introduced to two classmates, Aimi and Nami. In a nutshell, they’re best friends who remain united by one unusual obsession: their shared crush on their classmate, Ken Kirio. Whether they’re imagining conversations with him, debating ridiculous hypothetical scenarios, or turning ordinary moments into over-the-top competitions, the pair spend most of their time fixated on the seemingly unremarkable boy. Their attempts to get closer to Kirio rarely go as planned, resulting in a series of awkward, chaotic, and often hilarious situations.
While Kirio remains largely unaware of the attention surrounding him, the series quickly establishes that the relationship between Aimi and Nami is far more compelling than the romance itself. Their constant banter, friendly rivalry, and increasingly personal interactions reveal a bond that runs deeper than their shared admiration for Kirio.
