Chome, Chaos, and Cinema: Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Officially Announced for Fall 2026
We have some massive news for anime and gaming fans: Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has been officially revealed! After four days of teasing fans with character drops over the Holo, Netflix and studio TRIGGER have confirmed that we will be heading back into the neon-soaked chaos of Night City in Fall 2026.
The upcoming series is a brand-new, standalone 10-episode story set within the universe of CD PROJEKT RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 and R. Talsorian Games’ original tabletop RPG. Rather than continuing where the tragic first season left off, this entry promises an entirely fresh chronicle of redemption and revenge.
Meet the New Crew
The newly released key visual gives us an excellent look at the fresh faces navigating the dangerous streets. Here is the breakdown of the new crew members featured from back to front:
-
Weak Kingsley (standing tall in the back): A veteran Edgerunner once known simply as “King.” He used to be at the absolute top of his game, but now lives squarely in the shadow of his former glory.
-
D (seated on the left in blue): A sharp Netrunner representing “Snack Nation.” Driven by a deep hunger for revenge, D is on a ruthless hunt for the killer who completely wiped out his clan.
-
Talia Yang (on the right with bright pink hair): Though she originally hails from the high-rolling corporate towers, her true heart belongs to high-grade chrome and street violence.
-
Roman Carax (down in front): A young cinephile searching for real, raw human stories in a city that has largely abandoned traditional cinema for braindances (immersive digital simulations of memories and emotions). He is completely obsessed with documenting the lives of others and capturing the objective truth.
The Creative Team Behind the Chaos
While the first award-winning season was helmed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, the sequel series is passing the director’s torch to some incredibly talented studio TRIGGER veterans:
-
Director: Kai Ikarashi (highly acclaimed for his work as animation director on Little Witch Academia and SSSS.Gridman).
-
Series Composition: Masahiko Otsuka (the brilliant writer behind Promare and Gurren Lagann).
-
Character Designer: Ichigo Kanno (known for standout key animation on Delicious in Dungeon).
The official logline asks a perfect, haunting question for the new season: “In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?”
Mark your calendars for Fall 2026—this is bound to be an absolute must-watch on Netflix.
