English Dub Review: Snowball Earth “Good Job!”

Overview:

Welcomed into the Takimura family, Tetsuo meets Hagane, a young girl who just lost her mother a month ago.

Our Take(Spoilers):

It might be because I lost my dog a few months back that I’m still affected by loss in a show. But it wasn’t only seeing Hagane lose her mother that left me feeling moved. We were only introduced to Hagane in this episode, and I love her interactions with Tetsuo, outside of the first one. Tetsuo accidentally saw her naked, and it wasn’t the best of first impressions. There was also a lot of romance bait with these two, which you know I love. Not only that, but Tetsuo can act like a human being around people, so my early frustrations seem to be remedied.

There are other people out there who can tame kaiju, and one of the tamed kaiju was the one that ate Hagane’s mother. If that wasn’t enough to make you not like this new group, they also seem to be launching an attack on Mishima Mall. They need the fire kaji that Aoi has tamed for their plans to take on the humanoid kaiju. I can respect that, and I think we all want to see that kaiju get what it deserves, but the way they go about it is shitty. Once again, we see that in a post-apocalyptic world with monsters, the worst monsters are humans.

The way Hagane got her revenge on the kaiju that ate her mother was especially awesome. She fired a missile into its mouth that sent a bunch of shards into its mouth and esophagus. It loves to eat humans, and now it can’t do that anymore. I’m not sure if they need to eat to survive, but if it does, this was an especially gruesome way to deal with it.
