Our Take
Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling continued pushing Illusia into an increasingly conflicted emotional state as he struggles with both his monstrous powers and his lingering attachment to humanity. After the chaos surrounding the Rock Dragon incident, the episode focused heavily on Illusia’s growing isolation and guilt, especially as he begins distancing himself from the few people willing to trust him. At the same time, the series continued building the bond between Illusia and the Black Lizard, which added some much-needed warmth to an otherwise tense and uncertain episode.
The introduction of the mysterious slime creature brought a more unpredictable and dangerous atmosphere to the story. What initially appeared to be a simple monster gradually revealed itself to be something far more intelligent and threatening, creating a strong sense of escalation throughout the proceedings. The confrontation itself leaned more into suspense and survival than straightforward action, while also expanding the darker side of the world’s monster ecosystem. Although the pacing and execution may feel uneven at times, the episode still succeeds at creating intrigue around the slime’s true nature and Illusia’s increasingly difficult situation.
