English Dub Review: Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon “The Beginning of the End”
Overview
Boxxo and friends learn some unexpected dungeon lore in the innermost depths of the Everlasting stratum.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, the story finally delivers on one of the most intense and emotional episodes the series has had so far. What initially felt like a hopeful turning point quickly spiraled into a far more dangerous situation, with the reveal of the Dungeon Master adding a surprising layer of lore and mystery to the world itself. The episode balanced emotional sacrifices, large-scale dungeon chaos, and high-stakes action surprisingly well, while still keeping the heart of the series centered around Boxxo and the people fighting alongside him.
What made the episode especially effective was the constant sense of escalation as events rapidly spiraled out of control toward a massive cliffhanger. The Menengerie of Fools, for the first time in a while, stepped fully into the spotlight as a genuine threat, manipulating events from the shadows and turning what should have been a triumphant moment into a complete disaster that knew how to keep me hooked…
Overall, this episode felt like a major turning point for the season, pushing the stakes and emotional tension higher than ever before. The series managed to blend heartfelt character moments with surprisingly intense fantasy action, all while continuing to expand the lore surrounding the dungeons and their creators. While the ending leaves things in a very uncertain place, it also sets up what could become the strongest arc of the season so far, and embraces its absurd premise while delivering genuine emotional investment, and this episode proved the series is capable of much more than simple comedy alone.
