English Dub Review: An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess “An Observation Log of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess and the Resolution of the Matter.”
Overview:
When Cecil learns that Bertia has been pushed down the stairs, he’s assailed by an emotion he’s never experienced before. Together with the members of the student council, he sets out to take retribution. They gather everyone in the courtyard to catch the true culprit.
Our Take(Spoilers):
Bertia claims that Heronia isn’t the one who pushed her down the stairs despite the evidence pointing towards her. Cecil trusts Bertia and decides to investigate the issue even though he thinks it’s Heronia. During the investigation, he learns of a vicount’s daughter who is upset that the guy she is into happens to also be in the Bertia fan club. They manage to round up enough evidence that she’s been dressing up like Heronia and pushed Bertia down the stairs. What I’m not sure of is if all the times we’ve seen Heronia act like a bitch to Bertia were this other person or not.
After this issue is resolved, there is a festival to enjoy. During the festival, people can vote on who they think is the best couple. Bertia is shocked when she announces the results, and it turns out that she and Cecil are voted best couple.
I’m reviewing two villainess shows this season, and I find it interesting that both “villainesses” are redheads. Seems like a lot of villainesses have either red hair or ringlets in their hair; in Bertia’s case, she has both. So far, this show has become one of my favorites in the genre because it’s not turning into a harem. Bertia set every other bachelor up with someone, and she’s planning on getting Cecil with Heronia. This show has honestly been quite refreshing in that regard. There are other couples to root for, and it’s not a choosing game for the main character.
