Our Take(Spoilers):
I didn’t know how to feel when My Hero Academia ended. It wasn’t the worst ending I’ve ever seen, but it did leave me feeling a little empty. I wasn’t sure that Vigilantes was going to scratch that same itch. But the second season made me realize how much I was missing this universe. Koichi and Deku are pretty different as protagonists, but in their worship of All Might, they’re pretty similar.
Captain Celebrity was introduced in the first season, and I’ll admit that I kind of hated the guy. He seemed skeezy and narcissistic. It does feel like some of his behavior was retconned a bit too much, but the way they made him someone that you could relate to this season was impressive. I was worried that he was going to die because, with how popular he is, I wonder why we haven’t heard of him in the main series. Things could still go wrong for him, I guess, but he’s made it back to the United States at least.
We’re also introduced to a new villain, Number 6. He was a big fan of the hero, O’Clock, who hadn’t been heard of for a long time. We learn that the identity of O’Clock is none other than Knuckleduster. But he doesn’t seem to have any powers, and while it hasn’t been expressly stated, I imagine his powers were stolen by All for One and given to Number 6.
A third season hasn’t been announced yet, but I would be very surprised if there wasn’t one sometime soon. Especially with the main series being done with, I can’t imagine they don’t want to cash in on the hype while they can. For what it’s worth, I hope there is a third season because the second season was fantastic. I had only read one volume of the manga, but now I feel bad because this was a lot better than I gave it credit for.
