English Dub Review: Oshi no Ko “Calculating”

Ruby starts to make her mark as a reporter on Dig Deep!

Our Take(Spoilers):

Say what you will about Akane, she’s not stupid. She knows that Aqua has feelings for Kana, but decides to date her instead. When she thinks about why she gets upset, she tries not to. I think she knows that it’s to protect Kana that he doesn’t act on his feelings for her, which means he’s not worried about Akane, right? Maybe it does, maybe it doesn’t, but either way I’d be more ticked off than she is. Her anger towards the possibility of him cheating on her is fascinating, though, since their relationship is one of convenience, it seems.

Seeing Ruby tap into her yandere side is good fun. I don’t think yandere is the right word, but it’s hard to describe. Something snapped in her last season, and now she’s got a goal, and she’ll stop at nothing to see it through. She’s on the same warpath that Aqua is, but neither of them has realized that yet. The main difference with Ruby is that she’s more willing to use people, and I hope the Associate Director she’s working with now doesn’t get burned too badly.
