English Dub Review: A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-Humans “The Misanthrope and Falsehood Found Nigh”
Overview:
The advanced class goes on a field trip to the nearby convenience store to learn about human society.
Our Take(Spoilers):
One of the new students, Okonogi, is an Oni. She is compelled to lie for some reason, and not only that, but she can tell when others are lying. Hitoma doesn’t lie at all, but when it comes to Haruna, it seems that all she does is lie. I’m not surprised at this revelation, but I would like to know why. The awfulness of the past has already happened, and nothing can be changed now, so why lie? If I were to pose a theory, it would be that there is something we don’t know about what happened, and it tears her up, but she pretends like she doesn’t have any issues with the past.
I have to admit that I feel a little bad for Okonogi. She’s essentially forced to lie, and while she wishes she could stop, she can’t seem to. She wants to become human so that she can learn not to lie so much. Of course, we know that humans lie all the time, and Hitoma ruins this idea for her, but she still seems to wish to become human. I’m looking forward to finding out what Haruna is lying about more than that, but perhaps two things can happen at once.
