English Dub Review: Trigun Stargaze “Good Bye, My Friend”

Overview:

Wolfwood helps Vash break out of the Ark, but is pursued by Razlo, Livio’s alter ego.

Our Take:

I’m not gonna lie, I completely forgot about Livio. When he showed back up in the last episode, I was trying my damndest to remember him. This episode gave me just enough of a refresher to remind me who he was. He was essentially Wolfwood’s “brother” in the sense that they grew up together. They both have something in them that makes them age a lot faster than they should. It took me watching this episode to realize that the children from the orphanage are the kids that Wolfwood grew up with. At the very least, I forgot about that. I guess that’s what happens when you have three years between seasons of a show.

The animation for the fight between Wolfwood and Razlo was amazing from an emotional perspective and was animated great as well. Razlo is Livio’s alter ego and man can you talk about split personality? Razlo is insane but it seems like Livio got rid of him for good. For a second there I thought we’d lost Wolfwood for good as well but it turns out he was just wanting to catch up on some sleep. Vash’s new powers are cool and fun to watch so I hope we get to see more of those as well.
