English Dub Review: Hana-Kimi “I Don’t Look Good in Women’s Clothing!”

Overview:

It’s festival time for Osaka High. The winning dorms get special privileges, so things get heated.

Our Take:

It wouldn’t be a school-themed anime if we didn’t get a festival arc now, would it? This presents some issues for Mizuki, as you might have guessed. There’s a cross-dressing beauty pageant that she could compete in, but she’s worried that it would be hard to hide the fact that she’s a girl in a competition like that. Not only that, but we might have some new issues with a group of boys from dorm one being introduced.

Dorm one has one student who is mysterious and seems to have taken an interest in Mizuki. I don’t know any of their names yet, but this particular student is constantly casting glances towards Mizuki. So I imagine that he has a story that we’re going to learn more of soon. But as far as the dorm students involved in the festival, they aren’t above pulling some shady tricks to get ahead. If you’re in the swimming club, for example, you’re not allowed to compete in the swimming part of the festival. They skirted this rule by having club members temporarily quit in order to compete. Mizuki’s dorm is going to have to think of a plan if they want to stay in the competition.
