English Dub Review: Chained Soldier “A Storm Rolls In”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Yakumo wants nothing more than a harem full of women. But when she sets her sights on Yuuki, she just might decide to add him, too.
Our Take:
Yuuki seriously cannot catch a break with the other squadrons. While it may sound like good news for him, it’s actually bad news for the 7th Squadron, as another Squadron member sets her sights on him during an intense training session. That particular member is Yakumo, who’s eagerly obsessed with gaining a harem of her own. We’ve seen a male protagonist collecting pretty women countless times, so why not have a woman with a plethora of girls by her side as well? Regardless, it can’t be a harem without a male member, and that certainly won’t stand for Yakumo, whose wind ability makes her as dangerously sexy as her fetish.
Amid Yakumo’s seductive nature, the episode emphasizes a bit more on the squadrons’ abilities, including Kaiko’s healing ability and, as mentioned earlier, Yakumo’s wind powers. Additionally, we see that Saki has a similar ability to Himari’s, in which she can conjure up a machine gun from her arm. Afterwards, the episode gave us a taste of Yuuki’s new powers in his slave form, courtesy of Yakumo, which allow him to fly faster despite low stamina, followed by a seductive reward. This sensual moment between Yuuki and Yakumo is undoubtedly another reason it’s better to watch Chained Soldier alone regarding its uncensored content, which fits well with its blend of action and comedy and Yakumo’s cheerfully titillating personality. I also won’t be surprised if this season gets even more risqué than the last, especially with the other squadrons playing a significant role.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
