Review: Feride vs. the World “Episode 8”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
After finding themselves both single at the same time, Feride and Pinar take off on a girls’ trip…that doesn’t go to plan. Then, Feride lands in the hot seat for all her past decisions but manages to reconnect with someone important: herself.
Our Take:
After watching the first episode, I was already hoping for this season to conclude immediately. But at the same time, I was curious to see if this animated sitcom could improve on its “been there, done that” premise before its season finale. Long story short, it did not. The previous episode added some interest by concluding with Feride breaking up with Ismet, but should I really care at this point, especially given how much of a bitch Feride has been throughout the entire season? Her ignorant personality isn’t even charming or funny; it’s just a desperate attempt to make her relatable to adolescent teens. Regarding the direction of the plots and character actions, Feride just came off as unlikable and mildly annoying, which doesn’t make its all-too-familiar sitcom narratives more engaging.
The season finale is unsurprisingly no exception to the case, with Feride and Pinar’s girls’ trip turning into a disaster due to Feride’s cold-hearted behavior. She does get called out by her friends and family for her actions, leading her to find herself through a morning talk show. But even with that, it’s not enough to bring the show to a satisfying close, especially when the finale features a crucial turning point in Feride’s coming-of-age journey. Once again, it features the usual themes and narrative elements seen in other shows, particularly their season finales, but lacks the heart and wit to make its closure rewarding through emotional depth. Even with Feride’s last therapy, which has her reconnecting with her younger self, it still didn’t make me feel emotional. I’m just happy it only lasted eight episodes, because I honestly don’t know if I could handle its poor execution for a few more. This is just a painfully boring and unfunny experience that made me glad I grew up with other adult animated sitcoms from years past.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
