Review: Feride vs. the World “Episode 7”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
After her parents finally start their long-awaited kitchen renovation, Feride’s life turns upside down when they suddenly become her roommates…and her cat Evlat goes missing.

Our Take:
Having a place of your own means you don’t have to live in your parents’ house anymore.  However, that doesn’t mean you don’t have to worry about them, especially when they temporarily move into your apartment.  This episode is no exception to the case, as Feride’s parents stay over at Feride’s apartment while the handyman renovates their kitchen.  The result is precisely what you would expect from this type of episode: it started pretty well with her parents helping out, then they became a nuisance to her.  Like in previous episodes, this segment follows the basics of its episodic narrative, with the addition of aliens for some odd reason, yet lacks much innovation and charm to elevate its formulaic, temporary stay.
To be honest, I’m pretty happy that we’re already close to the end of Feride vs. the World, with its season finale scheduled for next week.  I’ve been giving this show a chance to improve itself, as I’ve always done for each series, animated or otherwise.  But so far, each episode has ended with the same result: dull, charmless, awkwardly paced, and surprisingly unlikable, with its penultimate episode being another addition.  This is evident in the final segment, “Goodbye Ismet”, where Ismet finally has enough of Feride’s self-centered ego and breaks up with her.  This would likely serve as the premise for the season finale, though due to Feride’s egotistical, intolerable personality, it’s unlikely that this relationship will be fixed.  Given her actions in the previous episodes, it’s probably for the best that it remains broken.
