English Dub Season Review: With You, Our Love Will Make It Through Season One

Overview:

When high schooler Mari bumps into a fellow tardy student, she’s surprised to find out he’s a beastfolk who’s to attend her school! After all, it’s not rare for beastfolk to coexist alongside humans, but it’s still uncommon, with the prejudice and all. Nervous to meet one at first, Mari soon learns there’s more to him than his furry exterior.

Our Take(Spoilers):

Let’s get the elephant in the room out of the way. Yes, this is a show about humans and beastfolk falling in love, and I can understand how it might seem weird at first. But if you put that aside and just focus on the love story being told to you, I think you’ll find something very enjoyable. There are some awkward parts with licking and kissing, but hey… I imagine couples do some of that now anyway.

If you’ve read my reviews of almost any romance show, then you know that I abhor love triangles. Ever so rarely, they get done enjoyably, and I would say that’s what we have here. Tsunagu and Mari are the clear main couple, and while we have characters like Yukihiro and Kisara who have feelings for Mari and Tsunagu, respectively, it never gets toxic or anything. In fact, I was starting to root for Yukihiro and Kisara to get together.

I would say if you’re a romance fan, then you owe it to yourself to give this show a shot. I know the beastfolk aspect of it can be a little weird, but if you can get past that, you will get a sweet show. It’s not all roses, and bad things happen but seeing these young kids work past these issues and choose compassion over hate is something I think we need more of.
