English Dub Review: You Can’t Be in a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! “Since I’m the Big Brother to the Little-Sister Type, Growing up Still Won’t Start a Rom-Com” “Extra Extra Hot? Finals Done? Bath Scene? Things Will Never Change? Still Won’t Start a Rom-Com”
Overview:
Runako moves back into the neighborhood for school and will live with Eiyu temporarily.
Akari eats very spicy curry bread. Eiyu ends up in the bath with the three of them. Shio studies with Eiyu.
Our Take:
In the first episode, we were introduced to a new character, Runako. As you might have guessed, she is also a childhood friend of Eiyu, and she fills the little sister trope. She constantly calls Eiyu “big bro,” and she’s in middle school. Which, since Eiyu is in high school, I guess that isn’t creepy? To be fair, it took him most of these two episodes to refer to her as a “woman,” which was troublesome in its own way.
When it comes to the second episode, I would not recommend watching it with your significant other. Not unless you want to have an uncomfortable conversation anyway. Eiyu falls asleep in the bath, and the girls are over at his house, and guess what they decide to do? They decide to take a bath, and this leads to one of the most awkward fan service scenes I’ve seen in a while. I don’t mind fan service at all, but this episode was a bit much for me.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
