English Dub Review: Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End “Logistics in the Northern Plateau”

Overview:

Frieren is reunited with Fass the dwarf, who has been searching for the Boshaft liquor for over 200 years.

Our Take(Spoilers):

In this universe, I’m wondering if all dwarfs are born with facial hair. We finally see another dwarf, and he’s fully bearded up and leaning more into the stereotype that he’s been spending his whole life looking for liquor. But I think the best part is learning a little bit more about how elves behave. You see, Fass the dwarf found a slab in a mine that discussed how amazing the spirit Boshaft is. After Frieren reads it, she realizes that it was written by her friend, who happened to be bored and thought it would be funny if, hundreds of years later, people thought this awful-tasting liquor was amazing because of her. Turns out elves love to troll people, too.

While in town, Frieren goes to a lending institution where we learn that her previous party was given a loan some eighty years ago. As you can imagine, this debt has racked up quite a bit of interest. It seems that this is where Frieren’s journey is to end because she will have to work off the debt for 300 years. Luckily, she uses magic to find a massive amount of silver that helps pay off her debt. One of the things I love about this show is how it feels like a bunch of side quests thrown together, but they feel like main quests.
