English Dub Review: Dusk Beyond the End of the World “To the Ocean Horizon Descends a Treacherous Swallow”

Akira’s group hides from OWEL after escaping the library.

Our Take(Spoilers):

You can tell this anime is going at a breakneck pace when there aren’t really any consequences for setting an entire library on fire. Akira and Amoru hideaway on a train with Yokurata. While on the train, they meet Vare and his LC partner Casuta, along with their twin children Caelo and Luv. Vare would like Akira and his friends to help him make up with Casuta. He was unfaithful to her ten years ago, and she still seems upset by it. What makes this fascinating for me is the nuanced differences between LC and traditional marriage. A typical LC involves multiple people, while Vare and Casuta are the only ones in their LC. When Vare swore that his love would be for Casuta only and then proceeded to cheat on her, it reasonably still upsets her.

The train was also a trap laid by the other androids, Hakubo and Yoiyami. It seems like a truce has been agreed upon by Yuugure and the two. The pacing for this show is a little concerning, especially with new characters and mini-arcs being introduced. But I do look forward to seeing how these characters interact and resolve the issues for Vare and Casuta.
