Prime Video Orders Adult Animated Comedy ‘Odd Jobs’ from ‘Solar Opposites’ Vets
Prime Video is doubling down on its adult animation slate with a series order for ‘Odd Jobs,’ a new sci-fi comedy from the minds behind Solar Opposites and Star Trek: Lower Decks.
The series is created and executive produced by Mike McMahan (Star Trek: Lower Decks) and Dominic Dierkes (The Mick), both veterans of the hit series Solar Opposites. The project is a collaboration between CBS Studios and the renowned animation house Titmouse (The Legend of Vox Machina, Big Mouth).
The Premise: Gig Work in the Apocalypse
Set in the year 2127, Odd Jobs takes a satirical look at a future where the world has spiraled into an “extreme late-stage capitalist hellscape.” The story follows a group of reluctant gig workers trekking across the “neo Midwest.” Their lives are dictated by the titular ODD JOBS app, which assigns them the strangest—and often most life-threatening—tasks imaginable.
In a characteristically humorous statement, McMahan and Dierkes explained the inspiration behind the series:
“While wandering through the wilderness, we accidentally stumbled through a portal and found ourselves hundreds of years in the future. We witnessed bizarre and grotesque portents about where humanity is heading. Instead of acting on those warnings, we’re thrilled to turn them into an animated show.”
Strengthening Prime Video’s Animation Roster
The order highlights Amazon MGM Studios’ continued investment in adult animation, a genre where they have found massive success with titles like Invincible, Hazbin Hotel, and The Legend of Vox Machina.
Melissa Wolfe, head of animation at Amazon MGM Studios, praised the show’s sharp tone:
“‘Odd Jobs’ is sharp, absurd and laugh-out-loud funny, taking a wildly imaginative look at a future that’s as chaotic as it is entertaining. Mike and Dominic have built a bold, unpredictable world filled with hilarious characters, and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with CBS Studios and Titmouse to bring this new series to our global Prime Video customers.”
Production Details
While a specific release date has not yet been announced, the pedigree of the creative team suggests Odd Jobs will be a high-priority addition to the 2026–2027 streaming calendar.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
