Rick and Morty Season Eight Is Fandango at Home’s Top New TV Shows of 2025
Fandango at Home, Fandango’s on-demand streaming service, announced its 2025 year-end roundup, highlighting the top films and TV shows of the year based on transactions on the platform from January 1, 2025 to December 18, 2025. The winner for the show’s Top New TV Show of 2025?
Rick and Morty Season Eight. A standout episode, “Ricker Than Fiction,” is noted for its clever cameos, including appearances by both James Gunn and Zack Snyder. While some fans were initially frustrated by the delay between the TV finale and its streaming availability, the wait ultimately made the binge-watching experience all the more satisfying.
At one point Rick and Morty used to bring in over 2 million viewers a night on Adult Swim back when show co-creator Justin Roiland was the voice of lead characters but was eventually terminated from the network at the height of cancel culture when companies would fire employees based upon just allegations and hearsay as opposed to facts, different compared to now when networks and media companies wait to do that sort of thing until there are actual convictions (of which for Justin there wasn’t any and continues to not be any). Since then fans have mostly bemoaned the replacement voices and as a result the series barely pulls in a half-a-million viewers on a weekly basis anymore, and in fact far less than. “Rick and Morty” was the #1 comedy across all of cable during seasons three, four, five and six, (all Justin Roiland-led seasons) and has garnered two Emmys for “Outstanding Animated Program.” (the only win coming on a Justin Roiland-voiced episode “Pickle Rick”).
“Rick and Morty” stars Ian Cardoni, Harry Belden, Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell, and Spencer Grammer and is Executive Produced by Dan Harmon and Scott Marder, who also serves as showrunner.
Synopsis:

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
