Review: Universal Basic Guys “Good Marks”
Overview
Mark goes back to high school to prove he is smart. Hank tries to pass Advanced Woodshop
Our Take
Yes, the premise of a grown adult going back to school has been down countless times before with the likes of Rick and Morty, Family Guy, American Dad, and others doing the same thing but this week’s episode of Universal Basic Guys does enough here to really make the premise their own and provide a lot of chuckles on the way. Add in some great guest voice appearances, a thrilling fight scene, and Hank continuing to go down worm holes, and you’ve got yourself a solid episode.
For starters, this week’s episode features guest appearances from Joe Lo Truglio as Mark’s history teacher that he eventually gets smashed and nearly costs him his job and Steve Buscemi as the wood shop teacher, because if you’re going to go the route of a premise made famous by Billy Madison you might as well get one of the guys that was in that film. Both make for by far the most high-profile names Universal Basic Guys has enlisted for guest appearances in quite some time which makes for a series that has topped out at five-million viewers in the overnight ratings.
The episode features a well-choreographed fight scene between what is kind of a pastiche of Jailbot and a deranged take on Pinocchio but both characters on their own are pretty hilarious which made their climactic battle that much more epic and enjoyable to take in. This week’s episode of Universal Basic Guys gets good marks and I didn’t even need to get a teacher drunk for the answers.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
