English Dub Review: My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s “The Assassin Gazes at the River Surface”
“Flowers of the Dead”
Overview
Crow tells Akira things about Gram to convince him to kill him, but he remembers his family and hesitates.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, the story follows Akira as he wrestles with a difficult choice that puts his values, identity, and relationships under pressure. Crow’s uncompromising stance and Gram’s growing influence push Akira into a moral corner, while Lia, Amelia, and the rest of the group bring emotional nuance to the unfolding tension. Alongside the central dilemma, small character moments from Tsukasa’s insecurities to Latty and Night’s quiet discoveries add texture to an episode centered on introspection rather than action.
The rest of the proceedings broadens its perspective by highlighting the strain Akira feels between the world he came from and the one he now fights in. Flashbacks to his life with his mother and Yui deepen the weight behind his hesitation, while Amelia’s support reveals how close the two have become even in the face of such an uneasy choice…
Overall, while this episode stumbles a bit on it’s message on whether or not murder can be justified, and the weight of Akira along with Crow’s Crows choices before them, Lia, and the rest of the cast contribute to the tension through their own perspectives and desires as it puts further emphasis around justice and responsibility take center stage and all seems to be building up for something bigger in later episodes to come.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
