English Dub Review: Gnosia “Understand?”

By David Kaldor

December 14, 2025

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)In the next loop, Yuri meets the final three crewmates, the shy Remnan, the reclusive and cocky Sha-ming, and Otome, a sapient beluga whale in a space suit. While they do the usual investigation for two Gnosia, Yuri and Setsu also try to resolve some crewmate drama between Stella, Jonas, and Shigemichi.OUR TAKEWe now have met all of the crewmates possible (unless the show decides to go its own way and add more that weren’t in the game) and it looks like we’ll be going through a lot more combinations and loops, as it seems that this series will be going into the next anime season, or at least that’s what Crunchyroll putting on their Winter 2026 simulcast list seems to be implying. And with fifteen characters total that will all get at least one turn at being a bloodthirsty alien, having twenty four to twenty six episodes seems like plenty of time to flesh them all out to a sufficient degree, especially since Yuri needs to get one hundred percent completion in order to get out of these time loops. With that in mind, this episode is actually one of the lighter ones in terms of tone, as even though there is still a death by a Gnosia…at this point characters dying in warp is pretty much just to ramp up tension and eliminate choices in finding the culprit, as all of those deaths get reset anyway. And it seems the show has become aware of this and decided to make this the more fun story, with significant focus on Shigemichi dueling Jonas in speed chess to win Stella’s heart, only for Jonas to get too into the game and reveal himself as the first Gnosia through no prompting from others. Apparently that can just happen, and he is subsequently voted into cold sleep shortly thereafter.Though the character we learn the most about in this loop is Stella, who reveals herself to be a robot, specifically as a physical terminal for the ship’s AI, Levi. Not the “combat maid” Jonas described, but not too far off if you know your Mahoromatic. Because of her robotic nature, Stella is hesitant to make friends with anyone, even those like Shigemichi who’s practically begging her to be friends (and more) with her. But little does she know, feeling too weird to make friends is probably the most human feeling there is! And for further confirmation of her personhood, Yuri and Setsu tell Stella that in another timeline, she was possessed by a Gnosia, just like everyone else has at one point. Wow, I never thought “you are susceptible to having your mind taken over by an alien parasite” could be such a reassuring statement. A shame this emotional break through is rewound back, as Sha-Ming also reveals himself be the second Gnosia, ending the game. We don’t see the loop reset, probably because there aren’t anymore crew members to reveal as a tease for next time, but I think it’s safe to assume things will go back to the start at the beginning of the next episode. I feel like I should talk more about Remnan and Otome, but I’m sure I’ll get more chances to do so.
