Adult Swim Double-Downs on Wholesomeness: ‘Haha, You Clowns’ Renewed for Two More Seasons
In a move that celebrates the power of doting teenagers and tenderhearted dads, Adult Swim has officially announced the two-season renewal of its newest animated hit, Haha, You Clowns.
The news comes as the show approaches its Season 1 finale, which is set to air this Sunday, December 21, at 11:45 p.m. ET/PT. The double-season pickup is a massive show of confidence from the network, securing the future of the Campbell family through at least a third installment.
From Small Shorts to Big Wins
Created by Joe Cappa, Haha, You Clowns had a humble beginning as part of the Adult Swim SMALLS short series. Its transition to a full-length series has been nothing short of a success story for the network’s development pipeline.
The series follows the Campbells—a trio of doting teenagers and their recently widowed, emotionally available father—as they navigate the awkward and often surreal landscape of grief and suburban life. Unlike the cynical edge typically associated with late-night animation, Clowns has carved out a niche for its “relentlessly wholesome” and “strangely uncanny” tone.
A Win for the Fans
Michael Ouweleen, President of Adult Swim, credited the renewal to a dedicated fanbase that championed the show on social media, allowing it to grow its audience week over week.
“It’s amazing that Joe and the team made something as radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny as ‘Haha, You Clowns,’” said Ouweleen. “But what’s even more amazing is that—in this cynical, uncertain time—all of you showed up for this new show… In the words of the show: ‘You are strong! You are loved!’”
Creator Joe Cappa expressed his excitement for the future of the series, stating, “I’m so grateful to the fans of the show who gave ‘Haha, You Clowns’ a chance and spread the word. I’m incredibly thrilled I get to hang out at the Campbell household for a little longer.”
What’s Next?
Produced by Williams Street, the show joins the ranks of Adult Swim heavyweights like Rick and Morty and Smiling Friends as a cornerstone of the network’s current lineup. While specific plot details for the upcoming seasons haven’t been released, fans can expect more of the emotional honesty and bizarre humor that defined the first season.
For those who haven’t caught up, the Season 1 finale airs this Sunday on Adult Swim and will be available to stream on Max.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
