Review: The Mighty Nein “Who Will You Be?; The Fletchling & Moondrop Traveling Carnival of Curiosities”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
The party continues to gather and convene on chaos at a circus.
OUR TAKE
We have now reached the official release date, and to the surprise of likely many, we have gotten THREE episodes at once instead of two! This may have been to make up for them releasing the first episode on Youtube last week so that there were still two new episodes for people who watched that, or they may have been planning three all along because that’s what Prime Video premieres are often like, but either way we have a LOT of plot thrown at us this week since these are forty five minute episodes so we have about an hour and a half of new content. And the main takeaway of all of that IS…that things are still in the formation phase. We do get a proper introduction to more of the main cast, as in the first episode we only met Marisha Ray as Beau, Liam O’Brien as Caleb, Sam Riegal as Nott the Brave, and a tiny cameo by Ashley Johnson as Yasha. This week brings us the other three main cast members, Travis Willingham as Fjord, Laura Bailey as Jester, and Taliesin Jaffe as Mollymauk, and now most of them have met some of the other in some fashion, aside from Yasha who is still doing her own stuff at the moment.
Fans of The Legend of Vox Machina will likely notice from the jump that each of these new player characters are stark contrasts from the ones in the first show/campaign, with some switching personalities, classes, and even statures, and real life married couple Travis and Laura actually leaning into that by having their characters have clear romantic chemistry right off the bat. This group that will at some point be referred to as The Mighty Nein is still more or less unaware of the major things going on in the background that are leading the Kryn Dynasty and the Dwendalian Empire, or the crisis regarding Dunamancy, though we do at least know that several of the cast already have direct links to some of the people responsible, so that will likely come into play in the remaining five episodes of the season. In the meantime, next week’s episode has the show’s title as its own title, and is written by cast members and Executive Producers Sam Riegel and Travis Willingham, so we will likely see the titular group coming together properly and begin their true adventure. Hopefully then I will have a chance to focus on a single plot line or character instead of speak broadly about them all.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
