OUR TAKE
Hey, was this episode pulled out of 2018? Because it’s been a LONG time since we’ve had either an episode about Tina obsessing over Jimmy Jr OR an episode where Hugo and Rob have made an appearance! Also apparently this season’s writers really had Tina withdrawals, because this is the third episode in a row that has had a plot specifically focused on Tina. Not that I mind, Tina’s a fine character and all, it’s just odd that this has happened three times in a row. But the last two were solid episodes and this is no exception, with her new plan to nab Jimmy Jr’s heart being to get play to his bromance with his best friend Zeke, specifically by getting HIM a date so they can double date. Unfortunately, the girl she picks out, Penelope, turns out to be rather controlling and reveals herself to be very bad for the romantic Zeke, forcing Tina to realize that she and Zeke are more alike than she first thought, instead relenting and getting Zeke to go with her AND Jimmy to finally make him feel loved enough to let Penelope go, much to her chagrin. Remember, the best loves are also the best friendships.
Meanwhile, the B Plot is actually a welcome surprise for me because it’s the long overdue return of Hugo and Rob! And really, this is only significant for me because, in the time between Hugo and Rob’s last appearance, I’ve actually started listening to a lot of Hugo’s voice actor, Sam Seder, and his podcast The Majority Report. So, it’s nice to see him still voice acting when he’s able, even if Hugo’s deal of hating Bob is a little played out at this point. Thankfully they make it different enough here with him and Rob following Roxy, a rat catcher who finds an extra large SUPER RAT in Bob’s restaurant, which is where the rest of the family does stuff while Tina is out doing her plot. All in all, these two plots actually balance each other out rather well, being both fun and funny, as well as having good lessons and heartfelt moments about respecting things and people they at first thought were disgusting pests and looking differently as those they thought were solutions to their problems. As mentioned, next week will be a break from the Belchers, but we’ll be back on the 23rd for the next episode which is…oh my god, ANOTHER TINA PLOT? Look, I like Tina well enough, but seriously, four in a row?!

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
