Lords of Laggard Hill Returns With New Short Film, Viva Lake Lago
After a two-year hiatus, the comedy series Lords of Laggard Hill is returning in the form of a standalone short film, Lords of Laggard Hill: Viva Lake Lago. Following the show’s history of mini-episodes, this entry is an extended single feature, taking the semi-retired warriors on “an imperiled journey across deadly waters, crappy people, and even crappier boats”.
Based on the comedy writings of A.P. Laurenson, Lords of Laggard Hill remains a hand-drawn production with a DIY ethos, inspired by counter-culture toons of the 1990s. The show premiered in 2021, with episodes released in seasons until 2024.
“The last time I worked on Lords, the whole AI slop thing was only starting to get serious, and that killed my spirits for a while”, comments Laurenson. “But ultimately I couldn’t resist the urge to create, I couldn’t shake some of the ideas I had. I resolved to work those ideas into a single feature and that felt like the best approach at this stage.”
No artificial intelligence is used on Lords of Laggard Hill at any point, as noted on the show’s YouTube channel and official site ( www.laggardhill.com ).
Apart from any future plans with Laggard Hill, Laurenson considers this outing to be “like a stepping stone towards a full-length animated film, possibly using a different IP and having an entirely different look and feel”.
Viewers can check out Viva Lake Lago when it premieres on YouTube, November 21st. Check out the trailer below:

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
