English Dub Review: Gnosia “New Crew Members”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

Yuri once again awakens in a new timeline, this time with two new crew members, Stella and Shigemichi, and has to account for them in future votes.

OUR TAKE

Just when Yuri thought they understood the rules of the game, it seems things are just getting more complicated. Not just with the inclusion of two new crew members with their own distinct personalities and designs, but also that more crew members means more people they need to convince…AND one more Gnosia to worry about, as it’s confirmed that when there are seven crew members, there are two imposters among them. Oh, and also there’s the introduction of the “Engineer” job, wherein whoever has these credentials can pick on crew member to check for sure if they are a Gnosia. BUT then there can also be Gnosia who can claim to be the Engineer first, meaning even if the one who has it says they’re it, it only raises further suspicion. So yeah, we’re adding a LOT of factors to this game, so thankfully we’re doing more than one play through this episode. The first half is mainly for Yuri to get acquainted with dealing with the new mechanics, though it turns out that if there are two Gnosia, that means that getting down to four crew members with two being Gnosia is an automatic game over, where as down to one with two remaining crew members was like this before.

The second play through gets Yuri more on the track of suspecting everyone, even those who seem like allies at first. In the first play through of the episode, Stella seems to be on his side, even professing her love for him because of a recent incident (which Yuri conveniently doesn’t remember), but in the end turns out to be one of the Gnosia. In the second, Shigemichi, the first guy of the group who has fake skin that makes him look like stereotypical gray alien, is extra friendly with him, though Yuri goes through the logs of who voted in the first round of voting, and notices that Shigemichi was the only one to vote for Yuri, pretty much sealing the deal that he’s the second Gnosia. And with Racio being voted out early on, this is the first time that Yuri is able to vote out all remaining Gnosia, meaning they finally won. Okay, show over and time to celebrate, right? Well, no, as time repeats itself yet again and Yuri is right back where they started. What does this mean for future loops? Well, we’ll have to see next week to find out.
