English Dub Review: Call of the Night “10th Night: I wanted it to be you.”
Overview:
As the battle between vampire and hunter erupts, Ko finally realizes the full scope of what’s at stake. Now he must stop both Anko and Nazuna before it’s too late.
Our Take:
Call of the Night has a unique take on vampires, and that extends to how you kill them as well. But even I have to admit that I’m confused about what Anko was trying to do. It’s nice to see Nazuna finally show some emotion, which I think has been lacking. It’s very clear that she cares for Ko and doesn’t want anything bad to happen to him.
I don’t understand why Anko went around shooting everyone, knowing it wouldn’t hurt them. Maybe it was to get them riled up enough to want to kill her, but even that doesn’t seem like the plan. It turns out that she wanted to be killed by Nazuna so that her death would be investigated, and it would be discovered that vampires exist. She believed that this would lead to people not going out at night and vampires eventually dying out because they would lose their source of food.
This doesn’t seem like a plan that will work for a multitude of reasons. I don’t think vampires can ONLY drink human blood, so I don’t think it would kill them off for that reason. Not to mention the fact that it doesn’t matter what you tell people, they will still go outside. We had a whole pandemic a few years back, and there were still assholes going out because “it’s no big deal”. You really think people wouldn’t go outside because of vampires? They either wouldn’t believe it or curiosity would get the best of them, and they would want to see one. Either way, dumb plan, Anko.
