Animated Global Smash Ne Zha 2 English Dub Secures HBO Max Streaming Date

In major news for fans awaiting the home release of the animated phenomenon Ne Zha 2, the English-dubbed version of the record-breaking film is officially heading to HBO Max on December 24, 2025.

The streaming date is set to bring the Chinese fantasy epic to millions of subscribers just months after its successful U.S. theatrical re-release and nearly a year after it became a global box office behemoth.

Breaking Records and Crossing Continents

Ne Zha 2 has cemented its status as one of the biggest animated films of all time. Directed by Jiaozi (Yang Yu), the sequel to the 2019 hit Ne Zha has reportedly grossed over $2.2 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing animated film and the highest-grossing non-English language film in history.

The film, which focuses on the mythological hero Ne Zha and his friend Ao Bing navigating a challenge to rebuild their physical forms, originally premiered in China during the Lunar New Year holiday in January 2025.

Star Power in the English Adaptation

The English-dubbed version was brought to North American audiences by A24 and CMC Pictures, with a special theatrical re-release in August 2025. The English cast features Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh as the voice of Lady Yin, Ne Zha’s mother. The cast also includes Vincent Rodriguez III as Li Jing and Aleks Le as Ao Bing.

The streaming release on HBO Max, which is set to debut the movie on Christmas Eve, will introduce the critically-acclaimed film—which holds a high rating on Rotten Tomatoes—to a massive new audience.

Adding to the excitement, the first film in the series, Ne Zha (2019), will also be available to stream on HBO Max starting on December 1, 2025, allowing viewers to catch up on the original story before diving into the blockbuster sequel.
