English Dub Review: Rock Is a Lady’s Modesty “Lady Version: Let’s Do It! Let’s Do What Feels Good!/ Rock Version: Wanna Start a Band?”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Lilisa’s love of rock roars back to life during a jam session. She may pretend otherwise, but once unleashed, her repressed spirit will not back down without a fight.
Our Take:
It didn’t take us long for Lilisa to start jamming with Otoha once more, though this was due to her proving that she had truly moved on from her passion. Instead, her rocking conjunction with Otoha reignited that passion for guitar, resulting in them finally agreeing to start a band together. Much like the first episode, this rock session emphasized the thrill and metal edge of its dynamic presentation and motion capture capabilities. More importantly, it further reflected on Lilisa’s background, which shaped who she was at the beginning of the series. It turns out that she was forced to give up her hobbies in favor of her pursuit to become the Noble Maiden, igniting a struggle between doing what she loves and doing what others want her to do. Of course, with her love for guitar returning to her life, Lilisa’s facade is about to become much harder to pull off in front of her prestigious classmates. This will likely become one of the show’s running gags, in which Lilisa tries desperately to hide her rock ‘n’ roll persona with her elegant appearance. However, the other students think her unusual actions are part of her etiquette mannerisms.
The other running gag that’ll likely elevate the season is the estranged, vulgar friendship between Lilisa and Otoha. They decided to form an instrumental rock band to perform at the Fuji Rock Festival, but with the condition that they would not hurl insults at each other after practice sessions. Unfortunately, that rule was quickly thrown out the window when they started hurling nasty comments at one another, akin to a one-on-one food fight, but that doesn’t make it any less hilarious, given the characters’ distinctively loud chemistry. The show’s libido and dominatrix undertones can be somewhat questionable for those feeling iffy towards the topics, though I don’t seem to mind, given the show’s “WTF” edge clashing with the innocence of the protagonists’ seemingly sweet exteriors. Nonetheless, the third episode continues to rock out through the show’s carefully placed humor and the main leads’ vocal performances, despite some of the dub’s vocal deliveries sounding a tad rough.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
