OUR TAKE
Well, we are sure cutting to the chase, aren’t we! I will admit, I was kind of expecting them to pussy foot around this by flirting or going on some hunting trips that would get them closer together for a few more episodes (partly because I’m covering a different romance story and that’s how it ended up being paced despite the leads clearly being head over heels for each other from the beginning). But nope, Aristad is all in and proposing after a single meeting! I guess it makes a bit more sense considering their in an aristocratic society where early proposals like that are more common, especially in Mephiera’s case where she apparently really needs to get married, so I suppose it’s good she found someone she likes on the first go. From what I can tell, those arranged marriages can be real crapshoots. It also helps that it’s clear she made a very strong impression on Aristad, as he is full on into this monster eating stuff now, even bringing a rare, still alive, ingredient: a Royal Moodle, which is apparently different from a regular Moodle because it’s bigger and has a more resplendent horn. I just hope they sheer off the fur first.
Though throughout the episode, Mephiera thinks back to how her mother (who I guess doesn’t have a name yet) and how she got Mephiera into monster eating in the first place. We’re likely going to get more info about this as the series goes on, probably even next episode since they’ll be going to a research facility that her mother owned. If I had to guess, she probably took her daughter on hunting trips and showed her how to cook these things best, which is honestly a pretty good skill to have, especially if you get lost and can ONLY eat these things. But without someone who can actually kill them, which is where Aristad comes in, it’s probably a lot tougher. Her father, Count Ghislain, seems like someone who just married out of convenience, which is indicative of his second wife and Mephiera’s stepmother, Celia, but it looks like Ghislain at least loves his daughter very much and maybe Celia will come around as well as this now happy couple bond even further. And if not, hopefully it just makes for more interesting conflict, because we still have like ten episodes to go!

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
