Solar Opposites Makes Surprise Move to Netflix Ahead of Final Season
In a surprise announcement, the adult animated series Solar Opposites is set to begin streaming on Netflix in the US on Sunday, September 28, 2025. This unexpected move comes just weeks before the show’s sixth and final season is scheduled to premiere on its original platform, Hulu.
Created by Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan, Solar Opposites follows a family of aliens who crash-land on Earth and are forced to assimilate into human society. While it’s currently unclear how many seasons will be available on Netflix or for how long, the show’s upcoming final season on Hulu promises a new challenge for the main characters: living on a budget after their diamond-making machine is destroyed.
The final season, which premieres on Hulu on October 13, 2025, will feature returning voice actors Dan Stevens, Thomas Middleditch, Mary Mack, and Sean Giambrone, along with a number of new guest stars. Despite the show concluding, co-creator Mike McMahan has suggested that more stories could be told, hinting at a potential future for the series.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
