Review: South Park “Conflict of Interest”
Overview
Kyle and Cartman are at odds when a prediction markets app gets popular with their fellow students.
Our Take
Actually the synopsis that was made available before the episode isn’t all that accurate as the duo actually teams up to try and take down a bet where Kyle’s mom is the horse in the race. Now, they may have different reasons as to why to do just that, but in a rare change of pace for the show, the long-held rivalry between Kyle and Cartman is largely put on hold for the betterment of mankind,
For those wondering, I think the producers of South Park delayed this week’s episode because they wanted to see how things were going to play out with the Jimmy Kimmel/Disney/FCC situation and I was actually surprised that the strategic advisors at South Park Studios don’t go heavier towards Disney on this entire ordeal like they have in the past on other topics and instead focus all of their ire on Brendan Carr who is put through a whole Wile E. Coyote/Roadrunner ordeal where Donald Trump is the Coyote and a very preggo Satan is the roadrunner.
I also have this feeling that Jesus being more of an authority figure in school is going to come to a head and is possibly an underlying arc that isn’t really being talked about a lot but probably should be keeping an eye on moving forward. If we’re lucky it’s another crucifixion. Also of interest, I couldn’t help but notice that the show was starting to get a tad close to that line of episodes 200/201 that caused those episodes to disappear off of the face-of-the-Earth for ridiculous reasons, but I was on the edge of my seat wondering if we were going there or not.
Overall, even with a lot of threads going on at once, the strategic advisors of South Park put on another clinic in savage satire. Matt Stone and Trey Parker are throwing pitches that are dancing all over the strike zone inside and the batters are slowly backing up off of the plate.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
