English Dub Review: Onmyo Kaiten Re:Birth Verse “Get Ready, Hareaki! Final Showdown in Denji Heian-kyo!!”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Tsukimiya makes a power play in the final Denji Heian-kyo, and Takeru must team up with Seimei to stop her.
Our Take:
With Seimei fighting by his side, Takeru has one final shot at fulfilling his duty to save the surviving worlds, and it starts with the remaining Denji Heian-kyo. However, this parallel city marks another big difference compared to others, which plays well in Tsukimiya’s favor. In this universe, the citizens of Denji Heian-kyo view Seimei as a criminal, with the townspeople aware of his World Whittle. This somehow aligns with one of the previous worlds, where Takeru was deemed a wanted criminal for attacking Seimei. But this time, he’ll have to protect Seimei as an attempt to subdue his former dream girl, who plots to become this universe’s hero. I still can’t believe I’m not going to get over that final twist. It’s driving me crazy.
However, there are some perks that came with this final universe. One of them is that Atsunaga and Yura know about the World Whittle and decide to help Seimei and Takeru with their ultimate strategy. That plan involves them finding the Great Time Bird in hopes of preventing the Worldline Convergence Disaster, although this has changed with Takeru’s decision to join Seimei in battling Tsukimiya. Amidst the fight, the episode unfolds further, revealing Tsukimiya’s complex and self-centered plan, in which she aims to live in Denji Heian-kyo to escape her devastating future. It also resulted in her being responsible for killing the moon’s entire population, which is unsurprising given how much of a selfish bitch she is. What’s worse is that her heinous crime also started the Convergence Disaster.
The penultimate episode of Onmyo Kaiten kicks off the endgame with Takeru’s thrilling fight against Tsukimiya and even the consequences of one’s self-centered actions. Though Seimei and Takeru have their share of guilt in their respective determinations, that doesn’t make Tsukimiya any different from her opponents, as her actions prove to be far more devastating than Takeru’s blind love. Hopefully, with the season finale, she’ll see the consequences she has wrought once the Convergence Disaster destroys the world she wants to stay in. If that’s not the case, then Takeru has my full permission to kick her ass repeatedly.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
