English Dub Review: Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze “The Shadow of a Genius”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Yu delivers Miwa’s forgotten lunch during her shogi game. Touched, she asks him to have lunch with her.
Our Take:
I mentioned last week that the final episodes of the season will be focusing on Miwa’s prodigy predicament, similar to the ones involving Niko and Kazuki. Fortunately, this week’s episode shows that I’m right on the money, as Miwa faces an unexpected rival that would test her mentality and even her “love” for Yu. The self-proclaimed rival in question is Sakura Yaotome, who’s revealed to have something in common with Yu, in that they both work hard despite being klutzy failures. However, she does appear to be as much of a pro in shogi as Miwa. Even worse, Sakura’s determination to rise above the prodigies puts a massive strain on Miwa’s strategic mentality, which could spell the end of her historic streak regarding her crucial matchup.
Through its comical and light-hearted introduction to Sakura, “The Shadow of a Genius” adds another player into the romance competition that’ll likely test the sisters’ strive to hide their feelings. Unfortunately, this competition may have been more fierce than ever, as Sakura’s clumsiness could make her a match made in heaven for Yu. Of course, knowing Yu, he’s unaware of Sakura’s inner feelings, as he believes Sakura and Miwa are close friends, despite their quarrels. But the real issue is the important match between Miwa and Sakura, where Miwa got off to a surprisingly bad start with her first loss. How is she able to recover from that blow for her next match, besides the special snack Yu made for her?
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
