English Dub Review: City the Animation Episode 12
I wish I may, I wish I might, see this end next Sunday night
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
The Mont Blanc Trio get into their usual chicanery and Ecchan makes her last pass around the City.
OUR TAKE
The sun is soon setting on our time in the big City, though this episode continues to be more of the same, in both the good ways and the bad ways. However, this is once again one of those episodes that kind of has a consistent theme, if you can call it that, as most of the skits focus solely on one of the three main girls, AKA the Mont Blanc Trio (at least according to the Wikipedia article for however accurate you can expect that to be), with it either having one or all of them involved, whether it’s finding out which of their photos was the winner in a local magazine contest, or wishing upon a shooting star for world peace and free meals. But we also have a couple that are just about Niigura punching that weird creature of unknown origin or name and that being a metaphor for life and its struggles, or one where Nagumo and damn near the entire town get invested in a horse race over the radio, only for the one they were all somehow betting on to be disqualified…and then having that disqualification removed…and then it being revealed to be a Gazelle that somehow ended up in the race and disqualified again, all for the torn up tickets to form a potentially lethal cloud! Or when she’s trying some really good sake with the adults.
However, the sole outlier of the episode is also probably the most emotionally significant, as it seems to be the conclusion of the ongoing storyline regarding Ecchan and her family moving to England at the end of Summer. In a moment of sentimentality that is as subtle as it is heart tugging, we see Ecchan give one last pass to her soon to be former neighborhood, patting every little spot for a final time and giving everything a good look over. And, to her surprise, she runs into Matsuri, who she can’t bear to tell that she’s leaving now, and so decides to play one last game: pretending to have the ability to erase memories. Matsuri plays along like everything is normal, but when she turns back to ask her friend to stay for dinner, she’s gone. It’s small, and sad, and completely normal. Perhaps we’ll see some further resolution in the final episode, which is now only one week away. Until then, make sure to let people know you’re leaving, okay? Don’t be a ghoster.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
