“Lesbian Space Princess” Sets Halloween Release Date

The animated sci-fi comedy “Lesbian Space Princess” is coming to U.S. theaters just in time for Halloween, with a release date set for October 31, 2025. The film, distributed by Cineverse, is the brainchild of South Australian filmmakers Emma Hough Hobbs and Leela Varghese.

The movie follows Princess Saira on a hilarious mission to rescue her ex-girlfriend from the clutches of the villainous “Straight White Maliens.” The film boasts a talented Aussie voice cast, including Shabana Azeez and Richard Roxburgh.

“Lesbian Space Princess” has already made a name for itself on the film festival circuit, earning critical acclaim and several prestigious awards. It won the Audience Award for Feature Fiction at the Adelaide Film Festival, the Teddy Award for best queer feature at the Berlin International Film Festival, and the Best Australian Feature at the Sydney Film Festival.

Critics have lauded the film for its sharp humor, imaginative animation, and fresh queer perspective. The Hollywood Reporter praised it as “a hidden gem,” while Variety called it a “testament to the power of independent filmmaking.” With its unique blend of comedy, sci-fi, and animation, the film’s Halloween release is poised to be one of the most original cinematic events of the year.
