English Dub Review: With You and the Rain “Summer Festival”
Overview
You, Fuji, Kii, and Fuji’s parents go to the summer festival, and Fuji’s “Pet” disappears…
Our Take
This time around, we get an episode that’s quite, cozy bite of slice-of-life: Fuji slipping into festival yukata, family antics (dad being his goofy self), and a soft, rain-soaked atmosphere that builds to a lovely fireworks payoff. Small moments, Fuji’s easy companionship with her “dog”, Kii, the gentle parental warmth, and the festival’s sensory details carry the episode more than any big event.
Tonally, it drifts between warm comedy (dad’s earnest silliness and the tanuki’s mischievous beats) and gentle tension, with a brief, heart-fluttering scare that quickly resolves into a tender reunion. The animation and sound design lean into mood and great visuals, making even quiet beats feel vivid and emotional without demanding much plot investment.
Overall, it was a soothing installment that delivered in spades in terms of animation quality, light humor, and emotionally comforting, and a very low-stakes treat for anyone who prefers soft atmospheres, small-family warmth, and subtle, charming mysteries over heavy drama. Its standout moment is the fireworks finale: after a brief scare when the “dog” goes missing, the characters find a private spot where vivid bursts of color and the hush of distant celebration deliver a quietly intimate payoff. The episode’s real strength is how it turns simple, everyday moments into an unexpected adventure. Hopefully, we can see more stuff like this in the future.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
