English Dub Review: Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho “Drunken Dreams of Snowy Remains Part 1”
Overview
A series of events in Kyoto and Edo in 1856, triggered by a sake with a unique flavour. The final scene hints at the return of the characters.
Our Take
This time around, we get another story that shifts back in time, centering on the town’s celebration of Zenji’s promotion and the sudden craze for Yuki no Nagori, a sake that, according to a snake-oil salesman, “sends people to Heaven.” While most revel in its effects, Jinya immediately senses something amiss after tasting its foul flavor and hearing Harlot’s ominous warnings. When Zenji, normally mild-mannered, lashes out drunkenly at Natsu, she turns to Jinya for help…
As the story unfolds, the sake’s effects grow increasingly alarming, stripping drinkers of restraint and amplifying darker impulses. The chaos among neighbors and townsfolk suggests a larger, possibly supernatural threat, while Jinya remains unaffected, demonstrating his unique resilience and care for those around him. Akitsu teams up with Jinya to effortlessly handle demon disturbances, reinforcing both the episode’s tension and its action-driven mystery that’s yet to fully unravel.
Overall, this episode masterfully blends character development, suspense, and intrigue in the first half of a currently unfinished story. Easily the highlights to me were Jinya’s protective instincts, Natsu’s growth, and the brewing danger of the mysterious sake keep the story engaging without revealing major plot twists. With its balance of emotional moments, tension, and hints of a larger threat, the episode sets the stage for future developments while remaining spoiler-free.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
