English Dub Review: City the Animation Episode 7
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
Things continue in the City, even as someone’s time there is running out.
OUR TAKE
We’re more than halfway through the show at this point and it seems we’re actually doing an ongoing plot now! It seems Eri Amakazari, AKA Ecchan, mentioning that her family would be moving to England after the summer is going to be a recurring thing and her friend, Matsuri Makabe, is naturally sad about this, but wants to make the most out of that time. Heck, it will probably be more prominent as we get closer to the end of the season, though that’s just wishful thinking at the moment. The loose nature of these segments is fun and all, but I’m hoping I can get some more stuff to latch onto and talk about for the remainder of this. That aside, it’s a plot line that’s really good at tugging at the heartstrings, especially when you’re a kid and your best friend is a huge part of your tiny world. And speaking personally for a second, it only gets a little bit easier as an adult, since I have a close friend who is moving across the country soon and those feelings of loss are quite real. It’s tough to lose someone, even just physically, especially when they’re someone you feel uniquely connected to and even in this age where you can talk to someone from far away. Basically I’m looking forward to seeing how this part resolves!
That’s not to say the rest of the episode also doesn’t have some solid parts to it, that was just the one that I could get a lot of analysis out of. The others are mostly just shenanigans happening with tangentially related citizens of the CITY. The “Mont Blanc Trio” have a fake argument that turns into a real argument, later one of them enjoys a kinda weird snack of raw noodles, and Tsurubishi (Matsuri’s father and head of the restaurant we keep seeing) goes on a trip to try cuisine in other cities and towns for inspiration for the restaurant. Though the other skit that stuck out to me follows a barber who considers himself “evil” and takes trades of objects in exchange for haircuts, though then he sells those things and uses the money to invest in infrastructure fixes for the community. I guess the punchline is that he is actually a decent guy, but it’s also just neat to see how connected he is to so many other characters. That’s all for this week!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
