Review: Unidrome
Coming from creator/director Duncan Hatch, welcome to the Unidrome, where death is just a rerun and cosmic eyeballs, giant bugs, and prehistoric cowboys are the norm. The five minute long almost anthology film features nontraditional narratives and surreal worlds where psychedelic imagery is utilized with effectiveness so much it makes me really want an Opti-Cola.
Boston-based artist and animator Hatch utilizes 2D digital animation to create a lens into surreal world that may or may not take place in different universes but is nonetheless jaw-dropping with funny dialogue that is humorously delivered by Hatch himself along with a rag-tag group of voices like Lily Hatch, Tom Ippolito, Dennis Kane, Peter Kane, and Liz Ridgely.
Overall, I’m not getting the sense that Unidrome works as a TV series just yet, but the short film does almost beg to want to be a bit more feature-length film though regardless I think Duncan is going through a bit of what Joe Bennett went through during his time at FXX’s Cake and I think his best stuff is yet to come sometime down the road of which I would really like to see more of.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
